  25.             The Energy and Climate Information Exchange (ECIX) is a pro-
  26.             ject  of EcoNet aimed at educating the environmental commun-
  27.             ity and the general public on the potential of energy  effi-
  28.             ciency  and  renewable energy to to reduce the use of fossil
  29.             fuels and their contribution to global climate change.   The
  30.             ECIX  File Distribution Service provides a wide selection of
  31.             information, policy statements, newsletters, and other files
  32.             pertaining  to  energy and climate issues.  Contributions of
  33.             pertinent  materials  are  encouraged.   File  listings  are
  34.             updated regularly and the revised file lists are distributed
  35.             via  email  to  subscribers  and  several   environmentally-
  36.             oriented newsgroups and lists.

  38.             The ECIX Project is funded by a grant from the Joyce  Mertz-
  39.             Gilmore Foundation.

  43.             All  ECIX  files  are  available  via  anonymous  ftp   from
  44.             igc.apc.org  (192.82.108.1), in the subdirectories /pub/ECO,
  45.             /pub/ECIX, and /pub/ECIXfiles.   The  current  list  of  all
  46.             available files is in the subdirectory /pub/ECIXfiles.

  70.             available  free  of  charge to anyone with ftp access and/or
  71.             electronic mail anywhere in the world.  Files may be  redis-
  72.             tributed with the appropriate credit.

  76.             A number of official documents related to the UNCED  meeting
  77.             in  June  1992  are  also available at this site in the sub-
  78.             directory /pub/UNCED.  These are in .zip  (DOS  PK-Zip),  .Z
  79.             (UNIX compress), and .sit (Mac compressed) formats.

  82.             email for those without ftp access.  To request a file list-
  83.             ing, a specific file, or to be placed on  the  mailing  list
  84.             for  future  updates,  send  email to ecixfiles@igc.apc.org.

  86.             interest.   Due  to  their size, the UNCED documents are NOT
  87.             available via email, but can be purchased on  diskette  from
  88.             EcoNet.
